Update of the Day – Adobe Flash Player 32.0.0.433

If you remember this line “Flash, Flash, I love you, but we only have fourteen hours to save the Earth!” you’ll probably know it’s from the movie Flash Gordon, right? And you’ll probably also know who arranged the music for this movie? It was Queen and as a longtime Queen fan I’ve even seen this movie in the cinema’s. And Apparently that now has been 40 years ago. Anyway. Let me say that the music was great, but the rest of the movie was … well … 😉

Let’s stop this retro-nonsense. What’s the link to Adobe Flash Player?

Every time Adobe releases a new Adobe Flash Player, me and my colleagues sing the Queen title song ‘Flash’ of this movie! “Flash! AHA!” in a Wayne’s World manner. Anything to keep us happy while we crawl through so many updates a day 🙂

But that will tradition will end soon unfortunately 🙁

Adobe will stop distributing and updating Flash Player after December 31, 2020. More about that on the Adobe Flash Player EOL General Information Page.

And a few days ago Microsoft released a blog called “Update on Adobe Flash Player End of Support” with details on how Microsoft will remove Flash Player by January 2021 from the new Microsoft Edge. The schedule of changes is available here.

An update titled “Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player” will be made available to permanently remove Adobe Flash Player as a component of the Windows OS devices. That’s a good candidate for our Liquit Setup Store, so we will keep an eye on that one.

Nevertheless today Adobe released version 32.0.0.433. The MSI’s for Flash Player ActiveX, NPAPI, PPAPI have been published in the Liquit Setup Store accordingly. These have not been checked for MSIX readiness, because it’s a browser plug-in.

Although you can use our Configuration Wizard in both Liquit Workspace and Liquit Setup Commander to configure these MSI’s, it’s really time to say goodbye to Flash Player:

We haven’t seen the Release Notes nor the applicable CVE numbers for this update yet. I will update this blog when these are released.
