ITNinja Integration

At MMS 2012 I met Bob Kelly. Bob founded AppDeploy.com in 1999. Soon AppDeploy.com became the leading destination for end point administrators to discuss topics related to setup and deployment, having more than half a million visitors per month. Several weeks ago AppDeploy.com became ITNinja.com, which expands the scope of AppDeploy adding numerous topics while leveraging its rich application and deployment data.

A couple of years ago at Packaging Event Bob and I discussed having a IT Pro solution which could simplify Windows application deployment by finding the correct switches and settings for a typical software setup. This eventually led to the development of Bundle Commander and Setup Commander.

May 5th Bundle Commander will be officially released in two versions. A free ‘Standard Edition’ version and a commercial ‘Professional Edition’ version. The free version doesn’t provide best practice public properties for MSI packages, unattended/silent switches for legacy setups, MSI Tuners and Configuration Wizards for most popular Windows applications like Adobe Flash, Apple iTunes and Microsoft Live Essentials. That’s only available in the ‘Professional Edition’. But the free ‘Standard Edition’ version now has a nice integration with ITNinja.com, so you can look for those settings and switches yourself by reviewing the many knowledgebase articles, forum discussions and links ITNinja provides for free.

Just by selecting an MSI setup (legacy setup support will be available in a next release), you will have the ability to send MSI package information like the Manufacturer, Product Name and Version number to ITNinja.com and query its knowledgebase for more information.

This is how it looks like:

Setup Commander will have a tighter integration with ITNinja in the near future. Just keep an eye on this blog section, Twitter, Facebook etc.
